The Ekiti State Government (EKSG) initiated the Ado-Ekiti Central Bus Terminal project as part of its efforts to enhance public transportation infrastructure and promote economic development. Located at Old Garage, Ado-Ekiti, the bus terminal was recently constructed to provide a controlled, secure environment for passenger loading, parking, and bus operations.

To ensure the terminal's long-term sustainability, EKSG sought a private-sector partnership through an Operation and Maintenance (O&M) Agreement. This partnership, awarded to Planet Projects Limited, involves delegating the operation, management, and maintenance of the facility to an experienced operator.

The private operator is tasked with implementing fee-based parking and loading systems, which will finance the terminal's maintenance, operating costs, and future capital improvements. Additionally, the agreement is designed to improve customer services, increase efficiency, and optimize the terminal's utility.

Key motivations for this initiative include EKSG's limited resources for daily management and maintenance, growing demand for expanded parking, and the need to enhance user experiences. Through this partnership, the state will be creating a self-sustaining model that supports operational excellence and generates revenue for infrastructure development.
